RESEARCH & EVIDENCE
Our work is built on research into falls, ageing, exercise science, frailty prevention and judo-based safe landing.
Safe Landing Academy (SLA) collaborates with universities, councils and community organisations to keep evaluating and improving the DBfL program to suit individuals with various health conditions & challenges.
Evidence shows that learning safe landing skills can reduce fear of falling, improve balance, mobility and strength, and empower individuals to feel confident and stay independent.

New International Clinical Practice Guideline Recognises Safe Landing for Fracture Prevention
A new international evidence- and consensus-based clinical practice guideline, published in BMC Endocrine Disorders, recognises safe landing strategies as an important component of fracture prevention alongside improving bone strength and preventing falls.
The guideline recommends incorporating low-risk safe landing strategies into fracture prevention programs and states that more advanced martial arts-derived techniques can be delivered when taught under experienced supervision and appropriate safety standards.
These recommendations are closely aligned with the principles underpinning Safe Landing Academy's Dynamic Balance for Life (DBfL™) program, which combines evidence-based exercise with progressive, supervised instruction in safe landing skills for older adults.
We are pleased to share this important publication, which reflects the growing international recognition of safe landing as part of comprehensive fracture prevention. Read the full guideline HERE.
